Channel Island Film Fest Opens Nov. 8

Screenings for the third annual Channel Islands Indie Film Festival begin on Nov. 8, with showings in Ventura and Oxnard. The festival will feature work from local and out-of-state filmmakers, including a slate of short and experimental films.

The screening schedule is as follows:

* Wednesday, Nov. 8: “Road Dogz,” 7 p.m. at the Downtown Century Theaters, 555 E. Main St., Ventura.

* Thursday, Nov. 9: “Wildlife Wars,” 7 p.m. at the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center, 937 W. 5th St., Oxnard.

* Friday, Nov. 10: “Resolution,” 7 p.m. at the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center and “Song for Cassavetes,” 9:30 p.m. at the Channel Islands Cinemas.

* Saturday, Nov. 11: “Short Films Program No. 1,” from 2 to 4 p.m., and the “Young Filmmaker’s Showcase,” from 5 to 6:30 p.m., both at the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center. The festival awards presentation runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and experimental films will show from 10:30 to midnight at the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center.

* Sunday, Nov. 12: “Blasphemy,” noon, and the “Short Films Program No. 2,” 2:15 p.m. at the Inlakech Cultural Arts Center. The festival’s closing-night film is “Mambo Cafe,” 5:30 p.m. at the Channel Islands Cinemas.

On opening night, admission is $15, $12 for seniors, students and children under 10. Admission includes an opening-night party. General admission for all other screenings is $7, $5 for seniors, students, and children under 10.
