Australia’s Diamond, China’s Luna Are Golden

Reigning Olympic and world champion Australia’s Michael Diamond won the gold medal in the men’s trap final today after leading the qualifications Saturday.
Diamond finished with a score of 147, ahead of silver medalist Ian Peel of Great Britain (142) and bronze medalist Giovanni Pellielo of Italy (140).
In women’s 10-meter air pistol, Tao Luna of China also started strong and carried it through to win the gold.
Tao tied the Olympic mark with a qualifying score of 390 and went on to win with 488.2 points. Jasna Sekavic of Yugoslavia won the silver with 486.5, and Annemarie Forder of Australia took bronze with 484.
World championships’ record-holder Ren Jie of China failed to make the Olympic final, as did World Cup winner Lolita Evglevskaya of Belarus.
