American Duo Moves Into Medal Contention

Anna Kozlova of Santa Clara and Tuesday Middaugh of Riverside have a chance at a medal, collecting 33.810 points to finish only a few tenths behind third-place France (33.997) after the technical routine in synchronized swimming.
Russia, which hasn’t lost a duet since 1997, was first, and Japan was second.
The duet competition continues for the next two days, with the field cut to 12 today, and the final freestyle worth 65% of the total score on Tuesday.
