Tobacco Lawyers’ Fees
A group representing corporate America launched a sharp attack on “excessive” fees paid to private attorneys who represented states in tobacco litigation around the country [“Attack Waged on Fees Anti-Tobacco Attorneys Received,” March 15]. These yielded $246 billion in tobacco settlements.
Do these corporate Robin Hoods have a similar concern about the excessive fees paid by Big Tobacco to its defense lawyers in combating these class-action suits?
