8 Dead, 200 Hurt in Blast at Concert
From Times Wire Reports
Eight people were killed and about 200 wounded in a hand grenade attack at a packed pop concert in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka, police said.
Officers blamed the attack on rival youth gangs in the city, where the main football stadium was crammed with more than 100,000 fans for a performance by two singers from neighboring India.
“It looks like a hand grenade attack that may have also been linked to a gas container,” a police officer said.
He said police had ruled out any connection with separatist rebels.
