It was the sophomore show for the first-place Cal Lutheran baseball team Saturday.
The Kingsmen (15-7, 7-0 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) trailed visiting Whittier, 9-6, in the seventh before rallying for a 10-9 victory in 10 innings behind three home runs by sophomores.
Jason Claros’ home run in the 10th won the game.
Ryan Cooney tied the score, 9-9, with a one-out home run in the ninth.
Taylor Slimak’s two-run home run in the eighth trimmed the Whittier lead to 9-8.
For good measure, third baseman Jeff Meyers, another sophomore, hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season in the fourth.
