Pumpkin Case Defendant’s Family Posts $250,000 Bail

A Buena Park homeowner whose murder conviction for killing a teenage prankster was tossed out earlier this year was released from jail Tuesday after family members posted $250,000 bail.
Defendant Peter Solomona has been in Orange County’s Central Men’s Jail since being convicted last year of second-degree murder for shooting a 17-year-old high school student he suspected of stealing his plastic pumpkin display.
A judge, admitting he gave inadequate jury instructions, threw out the conviction in February and ordered a new trial. But he refused Solomona’s request to reduce the $250,000 bail. Solomona is scheduled to stand trial again in June.
