Concordia Sweeps Doubleheader

Concordia swept a nonconference baseball doubleheader Tuesday at Westmont.
In the opener, Concordia (16-18-1, 7-10) scored three times in the top of the ninth inning and won, 3-0. Daniel Candela singled in the first run, followed by a two-out error by Westmont (11-21, 5-13). Concordia’s Jimmy Pickel (4-2) struck out 13 and allowed only three hits.
In the second game, Concordia scored four times in the top of the seventh.
In nonconference softball:
Vanguard 1-5, The Master’s 0-2--Celina Camarillo tripled and scored on an error for Vanguard (24-14) in the bottom of the seventh inning of the first game.
Jill Jessen and Andrea Saucedo each had two hits for the Lions in the second game.
At the Western Intercollegiate golf tournament:
UC Irvine finishes sixth--The Anteaters’ top finisher in the 18-team field was senior Eric Wang, who finished seventh after shooting rounds of 70, 74 and 71 on the par-70 course at Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz.
