Lee was sixth at the North Torrance tournament, won his second City Section title and finished 33-7.

A Marmonte League champion, Maldonado was 34-6. He won the Newbury Park and Camarillo tournaments.

Wt. Name School Yr. 125 Caleb Bautista Rio Mesa Sr.

The three-time Pacific View League champion was fourth at the Southern Section Division IV finals. Bautista was 35-14.

Wt. Name School Yr. 130 Andy Webber Ventura Sr.

Webber (32-12) won Rio Mesa tournament, was second at the Nogales tournament and 10th at the Sierra Nevada tournament.

Maldonado (36-7) was sixth in Division III, winning the Newbury Park tournament and placing eighth at North Torrance tournament.

An accomplished rodeo competitor, Real (29-9) was fearless on the mat. He was fourth in Division I.

Perry also played basketball and didn’t spend much time on the mat in practice. He was 17-4 and won a City Section title.

Wt. Name School Yr. 152 Tim Eckberg Ventura Sr.

Eckberg got in trouble with his coaches when he broke an ankle skateboarding as a junior. As a senior he was 31-10 and placed third in Division I.

Wt. Name School Yr. 160 Justin Rivera Ventura Sr.

Rivera (31-13) was fourth in Division I and second in the Channel League.

Wt. Name School Yr. 171 Will German San Fernando Jr.

German became the fifth wrestler from the City Section to medal at the state meet, finishing seventh. He was 27-2.

Wt. Name School Yr. 215 Mike Dominguez Rio Mesa Sr.

Dominguez compiled a 30-12 record, taking second at the San Clemente tournament and fifth in Division IV.

Wt. Name School Yr. HW Dan Kunkes Simi Valley Sr.

No other heavyweight in the region was close to Kunkes. He pinned 29 opponents, qualified for the state championships and was 43-8.
