Art

From the personal to political, “American Stories” is an exhibit that features art prints from Orange County Museum of Art’s permanent collection. Contemporary artists such as Vito Acconci, Hans Burkhardt, Leon Golub, Dolores Guerrero-Cruz, Lari Pittman, Robert Rauschenberg, Joe Bastida Rodriguez and Nancy Spero are among those on view. Between the 1960s and 1990s, prints became the medium of choice for artists. The prints were used widely because they were easy to reproduce and inexpensive. Many were used for political and social reasons. The artists in “American Stories” utilize a range of print techniques including screen printing, lithography and etching.

* “American Stories: From the Personal to the Political,” Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach. Ends July 1. Museum hours: Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. $4 to $5 adults, nonmembers; members and children younger than 16 admitted free. Tuesdays, free. (949) 759-1122 or https://www.ocma.net.
