Fullerton Cruises to 20-2 Win

Mike Rouse and Chris Stringfellow each collected three hits as Cal State Fullerton blasted host Sacramento State, 20-2, in a Big West Conference baseball game Thursday.
Eight of the nine Titan starters had at least one hit and six had two or more as Cal State Fullerton (24-10, 4-0) won its 10th consecutive game. The Titans have outscored their opponents, 61-8, in the last three games.
During the current winning streak the Titans are batting .391 and averaging just over 11 runs per game.
David Bacani drove in four runs, while Matt Belfanti, Robert Guzman and Shawn Norris drove in three apiece. Norris hit his second home run of the season, a three-run blast in the sixth inning.
Freshman Darric Merrell allowed Sacramento State (17-20, 1-3) one run and three hits over seven innings to run his record to 4-2.
In another conference game:
Long Beach State 14, Pacific 2--Edgar Varela had a home run and three RBIs and Bobby Crosby, Mike Hofius and Paul Macaluso had two each for the visiting 49ers, who collected 22 hits and remain one game behind the Titans in the Big West standings.
In nonconference baseball:
Vanguard 9, The Master’s 0--Chad Chop was three for four with a two-run homer for host Vanguard (21-16, 9-10). Sam Baeder had two hits and two RBIs for the Lions.
In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:
Vanguard 1-0, Biola 0-3 (first game 9 innings)--Visiting Vanguard (29-17, 10-8) didn’t get a hit, but won the first game in the ninth inning when a runner on second because of the international tie breaker rule was sacrificed to third and scored on a misplayed bunt.
