From Times Wire Reports
Suspected leftist guerrillas who released dozens of hostages were still holding 27 Colombian contract employees of Los Angeles-based oil giant Occidental Petroleum, the company said.
A man who said he belonged to the National Liberation Army, or ELN, claimed responsibility for the workers’ abduction, which appeared linked to Colombia’s faltering peace talks. The ELN has previously resorted to abductions to pressure the government.
As many as 100 employees were seized late Monday in eastern Arauca state. Most were released hours later.
