Re “ ‘West Wing’ Creator Arrested in Drug Case,” April 17: Has this country gone completely bonkers? Now we are arresting people for being in possession of tainted toadstools. When will Americans wake up and recognize that it is not government’s role to protect free-thinking adults from harming themselves? Not with liquor, not with cigarettes, not with airplane glue, not with marijuana and certainly not with fantasy-inducing fungi. And it is also not government’s prerogative to spend our tax dollars trying to do so. America’s antiquated and ineffective drug laws need to be revisited, reviewed and repealed right now.
