In the Redondo Union baseball tournament:
Loara 13, L.A. Garfield 1--Alex Owen gave up three hits and struck out nine in five innings to get the consolation victory for Loara (9-12). Paul Pratali had a triple, double, single and three RBIs.
In the Golden West League:
Tustin 2, Ocean View 1--Bryan Harris pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run for visiting Tustin (11-8-2, 6-2-1).
In the Serra League:
No. 2 Mater Dei 7, Santa Margarita 4--Mike Harris and Daniel Perales each had two hits and two RBIs, and Warren Chenier pitched five innings and gave up four hits and one earned run for the victory for host Mater Dei (18-3, 7-1).
Servite 2, Bellflower St. John Bosco 1--Tyler Hogan’s two-out double scored Pete Eastman from second with the winning run in the sixth inning. Dan Strough pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the victory for host Servite ((8-10-1, 2-6).
In the Sunset League:
No. 1 Esperanza 7, Huntington Beach 1--Esperanza (19-3, 10-1) took advantage of a Greg Farrell home run and five errors by Huntington Beach (11-11, 2-9). A.J. Shappi improved to 8-1 with a three-hitter and seven strikeouts.
In the L.A. Marlborough gymnastics tournament:
Aliso Niguel wins--Nicole Oddo took first place in the uneven bars (9.55) and finished second in the overall competition to lead the Wolverines to the title with 137.3 points. Brea Olinda finished fifth (118.6) in the eight-team event.
In the Michelle Carew softball tournament:
No. 6 Rosary 4, Valencia 0--Lizzie Hagen had a triple, single and three RBIs for Rosary (18-7).
In the Santa Barbara volleyball Tournament of Champions:
No. 7 Marina takes second--The Vikings (15-3) beat Capistrano Valley, 15-9, 13-15, 15-11, in a semifinal before falling to Sacramento Bear Valley in four games in the title match. Capistrano Valley is 12-1.
