An off-duty Los Angeles police officer saved two brothers from drowning Saturday in a backyard swimming pool, but the boys remain in critical condition at local hospitals.
Officer Wilfred Luke, an 11-year veteran, pulled the boys from the pool at a house in the 5100 block of South West Boulevard and administered CPR after hearing their grandmother call for help when she found the boys in distress in the water.
A 6-year-old, who had no pulse and was not breathing, was taken to Daniel Freeman Hospital, where he was revived. His 9-year-old brother was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
