Settlements Reached in Suits Over Wharf Fire

Settlements have been reached in multimillion-dollar lawsuits filed over a 1998 electrical fire that consumed a third of Stearns Wharf.
Southern California Edison was defending itself in five lawsuits filed by two businesses incinerated in the blaze, their insurance companies and the city, owner of the wharf. An investigation concluded Edison was to blame for the fire.
An Edison spokesman declined to disclose the settlement amounts.
