Former Metropolitan Opera star Kathleen Battle will appear in recital with a five-member chamber ensemble led by harpsichordist Anthony Newman. The program, part of the Performing Arts Center’s “Voices in Song” series, will include works by Dowland, Bach, Purcell and Handel. Newman also will perform as a soloist.

The Clavino Trio consists of three highly regarded musicians from the Los Angeles area--clarinetist Gary Gray, violist Roland Kato and pianist Ayke Agus. The three will play Mozart’s Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano in E-flat, K. 498; Poulenc’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano; Six Pieces from Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” (arranged by Borisovsky), and Schumann’s “Fairy Tales,” Opus 132. The program is part of the free Fullerton Friends of Music, started in 1959.
