Blaze Causes Heavy Damage to Home
A hillside home near Ventura High School was nearly destroyed Thursday afternoon when a utility room caught fire , authorities said.
No one was injured in the blaze, which started at 2:34 p.m. and gutted the back three rooms of the one-story house in the 2400 block of Sunset Drive.
The home’s attic also sustained smoke damage, said Brian Clark, deputy fire marshal with the Ventura Fire Department.
No one was home when the fire broke out, Clark said. There was about $100,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in damage to the contents, he said. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
