Ex-Nation of Islam Activist Has Stroke

Khalid Abdul Muhammad, a former Nation of Islam official known for venomous attacks on Jews, whites and gays, suffered a stroke and was placed on life support in a hospital outside Atlanta, a spokesman for the Muslim group said.
Nation of Islam chief spokesman James Muhammad, no relation to Khalid Muhammad, confirmed that the fiery black Muslim activist was near death at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.
The spokesman could not confirm a report that Muhammad had been removed from life support late Thursday. Officials at the hospital refused to discuss Muhammad, though a spokeswoman did not deny that Muhammad, 53, had died at the hospital.
