Black Quarterbacks

* Re “Black Quarterbacks Scoring in the NFL,” Dec. 30: I find it sad and disappointing that you find it necessary to label these athletes as “black quarterbacks.” Why can’t they just be quarterbacks? Years ago, because of prejudices and stereotypes, it was a rarity for a quarterback to be black. Obviously, it is not such a rarity today. But unfortunately, those prejudices and stereotypes still exist, and your article just perpetuates the myth that there is something unusual and different about a quarterback who happens to be black.
