Police Identify Man Fatally Shot
An 18-year-old man fatally shot at Lanark Park was identified Tuesday by police as Juan Manuel Garcia of Canoga Park.
Two men fired four shots at Garcia about 7:30 p.m. Monday night in the picnic area of the park, police said.
Gravely wounded, Garcia staggered across the street and sought help at an apartment, then collapsed, said Sgt. George Wright of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division.
Garcia died less than an hour later at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, said Wright, who added that the motive for the shooting is unknown.
The gunmen left the scene in a light blue Chevrolet Corsica, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the West Valley police station at (818) 756-8543.
