Pepperdine Still Perfect in Conference

Brandon Armstrong had 22 points and seven rebounds as Pepperdine held off host San Francisco, 82-78, Friday night to remain undefeated in the West Coast Conference.
David Lalazarian had 15 points and Derrick Anderson added 14 for the Waves (13-5, 5-0 in WCC play), who have won six consecutive games.
James Lee had 26 points for San Francisco (7-13, 0-5).
San Francisco, which has lost nine of its last 10 games, trailed by 25 points in the second half but went on a 20-0 run to squeeze Pepperdine’s margin to 56-51. Lee had 12 points during the run.
The Waves bounced back to take a 77-62 lead on two free throws by Lalazarian, but the Dons again made a run, outscoring Pepperdine 15-4 to come to within 82-77 with 19 seconds left.

Loyola Marymount 71, St. Mary’s 63--Marcus Smith, who grew up in nearby Vacaville, scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half, lifting the Lions to a WCC victory at Moraga.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lions (6-12, 2-3), who handed St. Mary’s (2-16, 0-5) its ninth consecutive defeat.
