The Boston Bruins signed free agents Martin Lapointe and Sean O’Donnell. Lapointe’s four-year deal is worth about $5 million per season.
“When an offer comes in like that, you have to think about it,” said Lapointe, a right wing who had 27 goals and 30 assists for Detroit last season.
Lapointe averaged 18 goals over his last five full NHL seasons and was a member of Detroit’s Stanley Cup champions in 1997 and 1998.
O’Donnell, a defenseman who played with Minnesota and New Jersey last season, signed a three-year deal worth $7.5 million.

The Phoenix Coyotes acquired center Daymond Langkow, 24, from the Philadelphia Flyers for two draft choices.
The Flyers have the option to choose either Phoenix’s second-round choice in next year’s draft and its first-round pick in 2003, or the St. Louis’ first pick in 2002, which Phoenix previously acquired, along with the Coyotes’ second choice in 2003.

The Dallas Stars signed free-agent right wing Donald Audette, 32, to a four-year contract. . . . The Ottawa Senators re-signed unrestricted free-agent defenseman Curtis Leschyshyn, 31, to a multiyear contract.
