Irvine-Based Trimedyne to Buy Laser Provider
Trimedyne Inc. announced on Monday plans to acquire Surgical Alliance Inc., a Birmingham, Ala., provider of lasers and other equipment. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Irvine manufacturer of medical lasers said it signed a letter of intent that prevents Surgical Alliance from selling any significant assets until 2002.
Trimedyne plans to study whether to acquire all or part of Surgical Alliance’s operations.
Trimedyne’s shares were unchanged, closing at $1.01 on Nasdaq.
