Murderer of 3 Gets Death Sentence
From Times Staff Reports
A La Puente man convicted of three murders has been sentenced to death for the most gruesome of the killings, in which he gouged out a victim’s eyes.
Pomona Superior Court Judge Charles Horan sentenced Nicolas Santino Rodriguez, 23, to death for the murder of Humberto Salas, who was beaten, strangled and blinded on May 11, 1999.
He was also given life without parole for the murders of Tommy Garnica, 16, and Juan Gonzalez, 15, both shot during a botched holdup in La Puente just before Salas was killed that night.
