Trial Scheduled for Man Accused in Son’s Death
A Sept. 10 trial date has been set for a Simi Valley man accused of shaking his infant son to death.
Brian Trelatsky, 25, is charged with child abuse causing death for allegedly shaking his 10-week-old son, Tyler, so violently that he caused severe swelling and hemorrhaging around the brain.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Department detectives arrested Trelatsky last September after a six-month investigation.
On March 28, 2000, firefighters responded to a call about a baby who was not breathing, and found Tyler in cardiac arrest in a Simi Valley mobile home. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors determined he had injuries consistent with shaken-baby syndrome, police said. Tyler died the next day.
Brian Trelatsky has denied abusing the child. If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
