From Times Wire Reports
Scores of delinquent customers lined up outside the offices of Philadelphia Gas Works, spurred by the utility’s threat that they pay up or lose service.
Targeting households owing more than $750 for at least 90 days, the company said it would begin shutting off gas to 14,000 “chronic non-payers” who owe a total of $42 million.
Most who stood in line said their tabs piled up over the winter when their bills doubled or tripled.
