Redondo, Rettenmaier Reach Junior Semifinals

Top-seeded Ryan Redondo of Carlsbad and Travis Rettenmaier of Fountain Valley advanced to the semifinals in the boys’ 18 doubles division in the 99th Southern California Junior Sectional Championships at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley.
Rettenmaier, a sophomore at UCLA, and Redondo, who plays at Pepperdine, defeated Davey Jones of Ventura and Adrian Mardyks of Ojai in the quarterfinals, 6-4, 6-2.
Top-seeded Judith De Vera of Carson and Lindsey Nelson of Orange, the defending section champions in girls’ 18 doubles, advanced to the semifinals with a 6-0, 6-7 (3), 7-5 victory over the No. 5-seeded team of Brooke Borisoff of Agoura Hills and Lauren Perl of San Diego.
