Westlake Doubles Trouble for Thousand Oaks
Westlake High won its 28th consecutive boys’ tennis match Wednesday with a 12-6 Marmonte League victory over Thousand Oaks that determined first place at North Ranch Country Club.
Philip Sheng of Thousand Oaks (4-4, 4-1 in league play) didn’t lose a game at No. 1 singles, but that wasn’t enough to overcome Westlake’s strength in doubles.
Matt Pardee and Jackson Ellis, Aaron Bert and Alan Kim, and Jack Sayner and Alex Sundling of Westlake (7-0, 5-0) swept their sets.
BOYS’ SWIMMING
Hart 131, Saugus 39--David Deloria won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Indians (3-0, 1-0) in a Foothill League victory over Saugus at College of the Canyons.
Deloria timed 1:54.69 in the 200 freestyle and 59.69 in the backstroke. He swam on the 200 freestyle relay team that won in 1:34.62 and the 400 freestyle team that won in 3:34.44.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Hart 113, Saugus 57--Gina Knox won two individual events and was part of two winning relay teams for the Indians in a Foothill League victory over Saugus at College of the Canyons.
Knox won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.28 and the 100 freestyle in 57.40 seconds.
Christine Castellano won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.41 and the 200 individual medley in 2:15.47 for Hart (2-0, 1-0).
Lauren Kristensen of Saugus won the 50 freestyle in 24.61 and the 100 butterfly 1:00.07.
COLLEGE SOFTBALL
Antelope Valley 11, San Bernardino 0--Candy Johnson struck out four and walked two in a five-inning one-hitter for the Marauders in a Foothill Conference game at San Bernardino (3-12, 2-3) that was called because of the eight-run rule.
Johnson lost a no-hitter with one out in the fifth when she allowed a single.
Tina Carrillo and Monique Saldana each had a home run and a double with three runs batted in for Antelope Valley (12-4, 5-0).
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Royal def. Moorpark, 15-7, 15-11, 20-18--David Russell had 15 kills, six blocks, seven digs and four aces in a Marmonte League victory at Royal.
Carey Hansen had 15 kills for Moorpark.
HIGH SCHOOL GOLF
Campbell Hall 166, Valencia 172--Vanessa Brockett, playing for the boys’ team, shot a one-under-par 30 and Campbell Hall won a nonleague match at Vista Valencia Golf Course.
Brockett, a freshman, birdied two holes and had one bogey for Campbell Hall (3-4).
