A 22-year-old man was killed Friday when his car slammed into a tractor-trailer truck in a rural area west of Lancaster, authorities said.
Brian Shilling of Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene on California 138 at 110th Street West, said Officer Scott Weldy of the California Highway Patrol’s Antelope Valley station.
Shilling was driving his Mazda south on 110th Street West when he apparently ran a stop sign at Highway 138, Weldy said.
The car struck the rear of the tractor-trailer traveling east on the highway. It became entangled in the big-rig’s wheels and was dragged for about 100 feet, Weldy said.
Shilling, who was the sole occupant of the car, was thrown from the vehicle, Weldy said. The driver of the truck was not injured.
