McEnroe Rallies Past Noah

John McEnroe rallied to defeat Yannick Noah, 6-7 (6), 7-5, 10-8 in the Success Magazine Champions Tournament on Friday at the Newport Beach Tennis Club.
Noah had 15 aces in the 1-hour 59-minute round-robin match, which he started with three consecutive aces.
McEnroe won the second set to force the tiebreaker, which he trailed, 6-3, before rallying to win. McEnroe will play Mats Wilander in another round-robin match today.
In other singles matches Friday, Wilander defeated Scott Davis, 6-3, 6-3; Pat Cash defeated John Lloyd, 2-6, 6-0, 12-10, and Henri Leconte defeated Guillermo Vilas, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.
In doubles, Vilas and Leif Shiras defeated Wilander and Leconte, 6-4, 6-4.
Play begins at 1 p.m. today with a singles match between Cash and Leconte.
