Teen Firefighter Trainee Is Arrested in Blazes

A teenage firefighter-in-training hailed for rescuing his grandmother from a burning building has been arrested for allegedly setting a string of fires.
Darren Hunt, 17, was charged with starting a Jan. 17 fire that destroyed the Barbieri Lumber Co. He also faces juvenile and adult charges for allegedly setting other fires, including a 1997 blaze in a wooded area in his hometown of Stockbridge.
Hunt, a junior probationary volunteer firefighter with the Great Barrington Fire Department, was 16 at the time of the lumber company blaze.
