Giving to Local Charities

The generosity that America has bestowed on those families who suffered from the Sept. 11 tragedy has been marvelous. It has shown that the greatness of America is not in its institutions, but in its people.
The outpouring of compassion and caring that Americans showed the families is unmatched in history. More than $1 billion has so far been pledged to various organizations to help the families.
As we go forward into the holiday season, I ask all of us not to forget the many wonderful, caring and compassionate charities right here in our community that are providing necessary services to those in need.
