Children in War
The Nov. 19 front-page photograph of the young Taliban soldier tells another story of the victimization of war: The children are the victims of this or any war. His eyes show the anguish and loss of innocence that war brings, not only to those who are on the “right side” but also to the “evil enemy.” There’s horror, pain and a cry for love behind those eyes; and, hopefully, these young victims will survive and overcome the ordeal they have been subjected to, so that the human spirit may again prevail over all this chaos. This one picture tells more of the real human story behind the war; its impact deserves recognition.
