Industrial Project Proposed for Landfill
Los Angeles City Council President Alex Padilla proposed Tuesday that the city sell its East Valley sanitation yard and part of the Branford Landfill in Sun Valley for construction of an industrial park.
In a motion scheduled for council action in the next week, Padilla proposed that the city Department of General Services negotiate to sell the 20 acres to SunQuest Development LLC of Sherman Oaks.
“This site is expected to be one of the largest new industrial projects in the northeast San Fernando Valley,” Padilla said. The site is in the state enterprise zone, which provides tax credits to companies in exchange for creating jobs.
In a separate motion, Padilla proposed that the city negotiate to buy private parcels in Lake View Terrace and Panorama City for development of two city parks.
