Tale of a Vile Villa
Before I ever rent anything again, especially via the Internet, I will take certain precautions.
Through an agency, I arranged to rent a villa in the south of France with my family. When we arrived after 14 hours of flying, we got the keys and were shown to the house. Our first mistake was to pay for it before entering.
The agency stated the house was 100 meters from the beach, with a view from every room and a grassy yard. But shock was our first reaction. Not even the poorest people in America live like this.
The house wasn’t 100 meters from the beach; it was a 20-minute walk. The paint everywhere was chipping, the furniture was all vinyl and torn, and the stove didn’t work. There was a burnt grass yard.
I complained to all the tourism bureaus but got no help.
