Twin Brothers Sought in Slaying of Deputy
From Times Wire Reports
Authorities scoured an area of south-central Colorado for twin brothers suspected in the killing of a sheriff’s deputy and critical wounding of another officer.
Joel and Michael Stovall, 24, escaped late Friday near Penrose, said Fremont County sheriff’s spokesman Dean Richardson. Authorities said the brothers were suspected of shooting a dog.
Richardson said Deputy Jason Schwartz, 26, was shot several times in the head while driving the men to jail. An officer in Florence later was critically wounded by shots fired from a stolen pickup.
