Re “Accident Victim Is Awarded $5.2 Million,” April 11:
So Keith Saul sped through a construction zone, lost control after hitting some gravel and became a quadriplegic. And an Orange County jury awarded him a $5.2-million judgment against Yorba Linda, a construction company and the water district? This in spite of the fact the jury found him partly responsible because he was speeding and not wearing a seat belt?
I have a simple solution. Stop all municipal construction projects when someone might conceivably get hurt. My insurance rates are high enough as it is. You know where the money is going to come from.
Though I feel sorry for Saul, just because someone gets hurt doesn’t mean they are entitled to relief.
