Sportsmen Outfoxed as Hunting Ban Is Passed
From Times Wire Reports
The Scottish Parliament voted to ban fox hunting, making Scotland the first part of Britain to outlaw the centuries-old sport in which hunters on horseback charge across fields chasing foxes with a pack of hounds.
The measure, calling for an end to hunts with dogs, was introduced in March 2000. To support the bill, animal rights groups dressed up as rabbits and foxes outside the Parliament in the capital, Edinburgh.
But Simon Hart, director of the Campaign for Hunting, said, “This is not an anti-cruelty bill but an anti-human bill.”
