A look at the top 10 boys’ tennis teams in the Southland:
1. Irvine University (4-1, SS-Div. II)
Aaron Yovan & Co. should get some competition in the All-American tournament this weekend. (No. 1 last week)
2. Corona del Mar (7-0, SS-Div. V)
Junior Garrett Snyder is 16-2 in sets, losing only to Troy’s Jeffrey Das and Peninsula’s Garrett Leight. (2)
3. Troy (10-1, SS-Div. II)
Jeffrey Das is 30-0, and freshmen Larry Wang (22-5), Jeffrey Hsu (10-1) and Patrick Yan (15-4) contribute too. (4)
4. Los Alamitos (1-2, SS-Div. II)
The Griffins were off last week, but the rest didn’t seem to help in a 10-8 loss to Brentwood on Monday. (3)
5. Harvard-Westlake (5-0, SS-Div. V)
Senior Jon Rubenstein played well in victories over St. Francis and Beverly Hills. Wolverines face Los Alamitos today without Jesse Ferlianto. (5)
6. Woodbridge (5-4, SS-Div. III)
Tough schedule is catching up with Warriors. They’ve lost to Troy, Servite and Peninsula on games. (6)
7. Westlake (6-0, SS-Div. III)
Warriors have won 30 consecutive Marmonte matches but should toughen schedule. (7)
8. Hoover (7-0, SS-Div. I)
Singles play is more heralded, but Eddie Choi, Joseph Kim and rest of lineup have done the job in doubles too. (9)
9. Servite (6-1, SS-Div. IV)
Patrick Buchanan made difference as Friars rolled past Esperanza, Mater Dei and Anaheim Canyon. (10)
10. Esperanza (8-1, SS-Div. I)
Andrew Manson and Vince Gonzales (22-2) have come far playing doubles, but Aztecs failed litmus test against Servite. (8)
