Opposition Party Leader Suu Kyi May Be Freed

Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi was taken for a secret meeting with Myanmar government leaders, a military official said, raising hopes that she would soon be freed after 18 months of house arrest.
Nobel peace laureate Suu Kyi, 56, leads the opposition National League for Democracy party. The NLD won a landslide election victory in 1990 but has been blocked from taking power by the military.
