Man Dies After Scuffle With Clinic Worker

A Camarillo man died over the weekend from injuries suffered nine days earlier when he struck his head during an alteration at a medical clinic.
Keaton Jeffrey McCallister, 39, never regained consciousness after his scuffle and died Saturday afternoon.
Authorities said McCallister went to the Santa Rosa Walk-In clinic, in the 4900 block of Verdugo Way, about 11 a.m. on Jan. 23 and requested treatment. Employees denied McCallister’s insurance documentation and he got into an argument before leaving. He returned about 10 minutes later and started a second argument before he was asked to leave.
Two men followed McCallister into the parking lot, where a subsequent argument turned into a physical altercation with one of the men, a clinic employee, that ended when the victim hit his head on the pavement, authorities said.
Sheriff’s Department spokesman Eric Nishimoto said the district attorney’s office is investigating the incident.
