Governor Signs Bill to Triple Cigarette Taxes

One of the lowest cigarette taxes in the country will triple July 1 with a new law approved that the governor hopes will save lives and help Georgia through a fiscal crunch.
The state tax on a pack of cigarettes will rise by a quarter to 37 cents under a bill signed into law by Gov. Sonny Perdue.
