Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured Saturday when a suspected drunk driver hit their car as they assisted in the removal of a vehicle abandoned near two freeways, authorities said.
A 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling about 75 mph struck the officers’ vehicle at 1:17 a.m. on a rain-slicked freeway transition road between the northbound Golden State Freeway and eastbound Ronald Reagan Freeway, said CHP Officer Brian Joy.
One officer suffered a broken nose and a cut to the back of his head, and the other complained of neck and back pain, Joy said.
The driver of the Tahoe, who was not injured, was arrested on felony charges of driving under the influence, authorities said.
