An Orange County sheriff’s motorcycle deputy was slightly injured Tuesday when he broadsided a truck and flew over its top.
Deputy Rod Valdez, 38, was driving north on El Camino Real about 7:30 a.m. when a pickup truck driven by Alfredo Arellano, 80, of San Clemente turned left in front of him at Avenida Barcelona. Valdez’s motorcycle slammed into the truck, and he was thrown over it.
Valdez was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, said Lt. Dave Wilson of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, Wilson said.
