Peacekeepers Report Capture of Key Rebel

International peacekeepers said they arrested a suspected senior rebel commander in a raid in the capital this week, but refused to identify him.
Afghan intelligence agents backed by 100 Canadian peacekeepers arrested the man in Kabul along with five others in an early morning raid Tuesday. Cmdr. Chris Henderson, a spokesman for the peacekeepers, said the man was believed to be a key commander in the army of renegade warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who has teamed with Al Qaeda and Taliban holdouts in frequent attacks on the U.S.-led coalition.
Meanwhile, a regional Afghan official said suspected Taliban gunmen killed seven people on a road in the southeastern province of Paktika. And a bomb exploded near a U.S. military base in the southern city of Kandahar, wounding a policeman.
