CNF’s Profit Rises 47% on Trucking Unit

CNF Inc. said first-quarter profit rose 47% as its Con-Way Transportation unit boosted sales amid an improving economy.
Net income rose to $26.4 million, or 45 cents a share, from $18 million, or 30 cents, a year earlier, the Palo Alto-based company said. Sales increased 12% to $1.35 billion.
The results were released after the stock market closed. CNF shares fell 8 cents to $35.60 on the NYSE.
