Anaheim Firefighter Hurt in Hit-and-Run
Anaheim police were searching Saturday for a hit-and-run driver whose vehicle struck a city firefighter who was putting out a car fire, authorities said.
Ryan Stampe, 22, who was thrown more than 60 feet, was taken to a hospital with injuries to his legs and shoulder, said Maria Sabol, a Fire Department spokeswoman.
The driver of the hit-and-run car had ignored the warnings of another firefighter directing traffic around the fire in the 800 block of Anaheim Boulevard, Sabol said.
Stampe, who has been with the department for 18 months, was in serious but stable condition, Sabol said.
Police were looking for a dark sedan -- possibly a Toyota or Honda -- with damage to its windshield and passenger side window.
