Big Rematch for Conejo Valley
Conejo Valley Little League of Thousand Oaks will play Visalia National in a semifinal game tonight at 8 at the Western Region championships in San Bernardino.
Conejo Valley (15-0) beat Visalia National, 12-0, in a pool-play game, one of nine postseason victories in which it has scored seven runs or more.
Deer Valley (Ariz.) and Green Valley (Nev.) are scheduled to meet in the first semifinal at 5 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for Thursday. The winner advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

High School Football
Coach Tom Hernandez of San Fernando will have to miss his team’s season opener next month because his school failed to send a representative to a mandatory City Section coaches’ meeting on Saturday.
Under City rules, the head coach is suspended for one game as punishment.
Hernandez said he mistakenly thought the meeting was next weekend.
San Fernando was the only school not represented at the meeting.

Brentwood has dismissed its boys’ varsity basketball coaching staff because of an alleged incident involving alcohol this summer.
Several players also could face disciplinary action.
