The body of a Seal Beach hiker who had been missing for two weeks was airlifted Sunday off Mt. San Gorgonio in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Rescuers found the body of Eugene Kumm, 25, on Saturday, 400 feet down a chute of ice. It wasn’t until Sunday that they were able to move his body to a trail and airlift it.
Kumm went hiking alone Jan. 17 to try new equipment.
Rescuers believe he became disoriented and tried to follow his footsteps back down, but the conditions were too icy and treacherous. Kumm died of head and body trauma.
